History

The concept of a union was initially introduced in the autumn of 2005 by Yrjö Sotamaa, the former Rector of the University of Art and Design, during his introductory address for the new academic year. A more definitive blueprint for creating a new university was proposed in February 2007 within the notes of the task force steered by State Secretary, Raimo Sailas.

Education

The School of Engineering provides comprehensive education and conducts research across all elements of our constructed surroundings. As Finland's premiere business school and one of Europe's highest-ranked, the School of Business presents an outstanding learning experience. Sustainability and energy efficiency, versatile use of wood and other biomaterials, innovative new materials and applications, as well as novel motor fuels, are among the key research focuses at the School of Chemical Engineering. Smart systems and innovations that boost energy conservation and enhance wellness are the result of converging electrical engineering, natural science, and information technology at the School of Electrical Engineering.

Research
